You're Invited!
What is Cloth Bank?
This is more than just a pad swapping site! It's a place where you can buy and sell pads, other period paraphernalia, and sewing supplies without having to use actual money (except when it comes to shipping).
You're invited to share pads that you've made yourself, and trade in pads that you've purchased but can't use for pads that you can.
If you haven't yet started a pad stash, you can help out around the site and earn "shares", which are credits that you can use to buy pads from the bank without having to dig into your personal or your family's budget.
How Does it Work?
Money can't buy these pads, but there are three ways to earn the shares you'll need instead:
- Deposit pads.
- Help out around the site.
- Use the offered and wanted listings to trade goods for shares with other members.
Transactions are based on a point system that is directly related to the member-determined value of pads in the bank. No national currencies are used and there are no international exchange rates.
When a member deposits a pad into the bank, she receives 90% of the value immediately. The remaining 10% goes to site administration.
When someone withdraws a pad, she pays the full value in shares and the pad is hers to use and keep.
Other items besides pads and wet bags can be bought and sold between members using shares.
The Emergency Fund
Shares can be donated to the emergency fund at any time. Members will be encouraged to donate whenever it gets low.
Members who need the emergency fund are required to petition the community and get majority approval.
Emergency shares may also be donated to charities, and representatives from the charities can select whichever pads will be best for the people they are helping.
Web Hosting and Shipping Costs
Members are encouraged to donate to cover the costs of web hosting and shipping. Members who would like to withdraw pads but can't afford shipping costs can ask the community for help. Information about funds available and funds spent will be available to all members at all times. If donations received aren't equal to these costs, membership dues may be proposed.
