Clothbank Newsletter May 17, 2009

Happy Victoria Day weekend ladies. ("Tis a Canadian holiday) For us Canadians it signifies the end of Winter and the true beginning of warmer temperatures. We like to go camping and drink heavily and then come home hungover and chewed alive by mosquitos. But, we do it and we love it. Myself being the responsible mom figure that I am (and fresh from a move cross country) has traded in my beer cozy for a travel coffee mug and camping for trips to the park. This is why you have seen less and less of me here and at the bank. But with help from Cassandra we should have this letter delivered to your email inbox or LiveJournal feeds promptly on Fridays once again.

Now, on to the good stuff.

Items in limbo~ We have several donations and three deposits waiting for their prices to be determined. Please take a moment to weigh in and help determine their prices. There are six pads and one wetbag. Come by the bank and peruse the wares, the selection is getting really quite extensive. I myself have withdrawn three pads from the bank, and have nothing but good things to say about both the pads and the experience.

It has been another quiet week at the bank, I suspect it will stay this way the warmer the weather gets. So, I will take these opportunities to mention outside links where reusable menstruation products have been focused on or at least mentioned.

In the May 2009 Issue of Alive magazine (a super duper magazine you can usually get free at your local natural foods store) There is an article called "Conscientious Period Protection" and it is about different ways to lighten your periods impact on our fair Earth. Mentrsual cups, organic cotton pads and organic cotton tampons are the focus and no brand names are dropped. But it was nice to see two page (minus big picture of a lady and an add for Salus Plant juice) in a widely distributed magazine. They do have an online article located here: http://www.alive.com/6953a17a2.php?subject_bread_cramb=132 called "Go with the Flow" and they do drop some names like; Gladrags, Lunapads and Skoon. As well as pointing out that many local crafters create pads as well. It is a brief article that pretty much mirrors the magazine article but again, it is nice to see the awareness growing.

No new members to welcome, I think I will create a badge for us to help promote the bank, I'll ask Amy post my ideas to be voted on soon. And with that I will take my leave. I hope your weeks are filled with sunshine and laughter ladies! CHeers!
